MOLECULAR PUZZLE

https://sdbs.db.aist.go.jp/ For research work, it is always necessary to identify molecules, and one way to do this is by using spectra. There is a database of spectra where you can actually find any known molecule.  I used this site as I need it, but I certainly use it every semester.  I used a lot for my organic chemistry 3 course, it's great to have access to this kind of stuff and if you are taking your third organic chemistry, this site will help you a lot. it's the best!!!    The Spectral Database for Organic Compounds (SDBS) is a free online searchable database hosted by the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) in Japan, that contains spectral data for ca 34,000 organic molecules. The database is available in English and in Japanese and it includes six types of spectra: laser Raman spectra, electron ionization mass spectra (EI-MS), Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectra, 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR) s...

What are u eating?

The food industry subjects natural sugar freshly extracted from sugarcane to a chemical process that is relatively cheap for them and with which they obtain double or triple the amount of refined sugar. This is refined sugar The consumption of refined sugar is directly involved in many disorders and diseases. It is associated with diabetes, obesity, heart, liver and kidney problems. It is also associated with psychological disorders, such as depression, panic attacks, anxiety, sugar addiction, etc. Sugar is also found in fruit and honey, these are a healthier option. The OMS suggests a consumption of 10 tablespoons of sugar a day and that if this decreases to 5 tablespoons, our metabolism will improve positively. -A good option to replace sugar is stevia or allulose. On the other hand, carbohydrates such as bread, pasta, cookies, buns, cakes, pies, pastries, etc. are also mostly made of refined wheat flour. This flour, together with the refined sugars that are added, make these f...

Peace and Pascuala

When I lived in Santiago for my university studies, before the coronavirus, I missed my mother and my life with the animals at home. Now that I am back home because of the pandemic I must admit that I miss Santiago a little bit. When I was a child I thought I lived on a farm because I saw so many animals outside my bedroom window, so I created a strong connection with nature.  One place I always find peace and calm when I'm having a hard time is at home, walking with my dogs and visiting our friends the sheep, chickens and ducks.  I took this photo in December 2018. In it is my father's horse that he has had for as long as I can remember, her name is ''Pascuala'', I think he loves her more than me, but it's not something that really bothers me. I like to talk with ''Pascuala'' and touching her hair, she lets me touch her, although it's probably because I used to gave her food. I like this picture because it not only shows her, it also s...

Movies or movies....zzzzzz

Thinking of my favorite movie became very difficult because I don't really have one. When I watch movies, in particular at night I always fall asleep at the best part and wake up at the end. I usually prefer horror movies because the fear keeps me awake or the bad effects make me laugh. I also like to watch movies that make me cry, there are some that make you realize how lucky you are and make you appreciate a lot of things. One of those was ''The Theory of Everything'', the story of the most brilliant and celebrated physicist of our time, Stephen Hawking, called the "successor to Einstein," he was given just two years to live following the diagnosis of a fatal illness (ALS) at 21 years of age. I cried a lot. This movie came to mind as I was writing this, but my favorite movie might be ´´Toy story 2''. This movie came out a year and a month after I was born, I really thought it wasn't that old, it's amazing how you can still watch it. In...

Why the computer is the best thing that i have ?

Imagen
When I asked myself about my favorite piece of technology, I automatically thought of the cell phone because it is something I use all day, but thinking about it, the computer is more interesting, not only because the screen is bigger but because it has a lot of space, especially mine, I have it since last year and it has been very important in my online classes. It is something I use every day, every morning I turn it on and study with it, watch online classes, watch videos, search for information on the internet, listen to music and watch documentaries on netflix. When I do my homework on the computer, while typing, I feel like an important businesswoman while having a coffee. i like the sound of the keys. When my battery runs out, I turn to the tablet to watch online classes or study, it's not the same convenience that the computer gives me. On the tablet, it's slower to be searching for information and then typing in a Word document. Without the computer I would be very s...

WHY I STUDY CHEMISTRY?

Imagen
When I was little, my dream was to be on TV and to be a journalist. Then, when I was in high school, my favorite class was chemistry, I really enjoyed going into that class. My first choice was to study chemistry and pharmacy, my brother was studying that when I was in high school and somehow, I also wanted to study the same. In high school I didn't like biology, it was hard for me to imagine the cellular processes or the replication of genetic material and the career of chemistry and pharmacy has a lot of biology. Even so, I wanted to study that career, but I did not succeed. I decided to study chemistry since I didn't have the score to enter the chemistry and pharmacy career. It was the best thing that could have happened to me, because in my current career I realized that this was the best career for me, without cells and biological processes. I have had good and bad moments in college, like everyone else. During these years I have confirmed how much I like to know about ...

Pascuala   Hello reader 💖 to learn more about me i invite you to read this blog. I was born on October 13, 1998 in Santiago, when I was two years old my family moved to the countryside, to a town called Nilahue Cornejo. My father didn't like city life, he always liked to be with his animals. In my house I have chickens, sheep, ducks, horses, rabbits, dogs and an old cat ''kuky’’, because I really loved to eat those cookies when I was a little girl. Living here is nice, in the morning when you wake up you can hear the birds. Ducks waiting for food I went to elementary school in my hometown. When I was in high school, at Liceo Maria Auxiliadora, my favorite class was chemistry, but the teacher made all my classmates hate the class because she was very boring. My love for the subject has me currently studying chemistry at the University of Chile. I live in Santiago during the university period and I like it a lot, because I have more options to go out to eat and hang ...
